Blu Note Espresso

In collaboration with Bored Media, we were tasked with refreshing the visual brand of loved local cafe, Blu Note Espresso.

The brief was simple; make it feel warm and cozy, like you’ve just stumbled into an old-style French cafe.

We said “oui”.

The cafe itself was an intimate and delicate space, full of eclectic knick-knacks and trinkets. To produce soft, beautiful imagery, we aimed to replicate diffused sunlight. In a space so small, a big soft box would only get in the way for us, the staff and the patrons. So we opted for a smaller form factor and positioned a fresnel light behind scrim.

We sealed the deal on the aesthetic with our grade - gently puling back highlights and pushing the colours towards sepia to conjure the old-timey, homely vibe.
